Gratitude
Yesterday was a long and hot day of walking and we ran out of water at around 5pm while we had 7 km to go still . At the end of a steep uphill with no shade we walked into the village of Casal Justal and we saw this lady who was popping peas out of their shells on the bench in front of her house in the shade of blossoming orange trees. We asked her if she could help us by refilling our bottles which she did. In this brief moment life gave us so many things: a connection with this lady through smiles and curiosity, a picture of this beautiful shaded space in front of her house, the smells of orange blossoms and roses and the freshness of cold water.
